Hey there, I’m Lenie Caston-Miller. I’m a visual artist working and living in Houston, TX.
I am a sculpture artist practicing in the materials of clay, metal, resin, and wood. I hold a BFA in Studio Arts - Sculpture, Visual Arts Teacher Certificate, and am an Entrepreneur of multiple businesses. You may have seen me on Houston local tv with my co-founded community out reach company, The Ranch Houston, or at a fine arts event around town. Maybe you found me through social media outlets, but however you found my artist site, welcome. Please enjoy the many images of my work and feel free to contact me for inquiries about acquiring some of the artwork I have created.
My sculptural creations tend to be a cathartic processing for me fused with technical processes of creation. While my functional work leans into the drills of exercising muscle memory techniques to strive for strong craftsmanship. Together these drivers of my creative self allow for my flow state of creative output.
This catharsis through my art has saved my soul and allowed me to live again. As an Iraqi War veteran that came home injured and emotionally broken, finding my niche in the art world in which I can express myself has given me a new lease on life. It has shown me that, although my road had more hills and curves than I ever thought possible, there is always a way. I found my way to sculpture through parlaying my experiences as an Army welder into expressing how I see the world. My installations allow audiences to experience and move within the art. Painting is sorbet the between creation of my sculptures and installations; it makes it easy for me to clear my mind from the extensive planning and execution my sculpture demands from me, which grants me greater freedom of expression.
Much Love,
Lenie
